POSITIF project will develop a security framework and tools. Final software releases will be avaliable at the end of the project, in January 2007. Most software components will be avaliable sooner, as beta versions. Questions about software releases and policies should be directed to the Project Coordinator.
The project supports the European policy of preference for open-source developments, that is particularly important in the field of ICT security. Specifically, the POSITIF framework and related tools will be fully open-source. When it comes to specific security tools (firewall, IDS, VPN), those developed by the industrial partners will be the property of the respective developer, but other partners will modify open-source security tools so that they can be used inside the framework.
